Auditions for Lead Character RED Happening Soon!

In the next couple of weeks we will be holding auditions for our lead character “RED” for the short film BITE THE HAND. Expect them to be sometime during the week of April 4th.

Role includes credit, copy, gas and food, with some possible further compensation TBD.

What we are looking for:

Early to mid 20s, unkempt and desperate, with only a little pride left. Former military, dishonorably discharged. Up and coming hitman who is about to learn a lesson in manners. Can be any ethnicity/race, just must be able to convey a lot of emotions with body language and facial expressions. Military experience not required but might be helpful if you have it. Physicality and firearms training also a plus. Does NOT have red hair.

Some Back Story:
Red is an early to mid 20s former soldier. Disheveled, grungy, and hungry. The only thing he takes care of is his gun. He keeps his head trimmed short, his scar reminding him of his past mistakes. He still wears his military issued jacket, but it has some holes in it from wear and tear. He was dishonorably discharged from duty in Iraq after allowing an enemy to cross his line of fire and detonate an IED that killed the rest of his squad. He doesn’t remember a lot of it, but blames his self entirely for the failure and accepted his punishment without question. He also suffers from PTSD as a result, though how strong it hits him is hard to say. He still gets nerves and shakes from time to time, especially when under stress. Because of this he could never imagine holding down a normal job.

Red represents a mentality of “do or die…but under someone else’s terms”, and doesn’t question the authority that points him like a gun and pulls him like a trigger, regardless of his safety or humanity.

With nothing left to lose, he took the skills he had acquired in the military and shopped them around until he found work in a hit outfit as a low level assassin…

Co-starring Paul Sieber, John C. Bailey, and Daniel Lee Mascarello, the lead actor will be working with some of the best local talent around in a movie shot by one of the best upcoming DPs, Habib Awan. Film will be directed by Dylan Hintz of Strike a Pose!!! Films and will be completed by late June 2011.

Submit your Headshot, Resume and whatever demo materials you’d like to so we can get in contact with you to schedule the audition!

Casting Announcements

Today is a very special day for us: We are proudly announcing the casting of TWO of the major roles for our hitman drama, Bite the Hand. The actors for both Kenneth Bayowitz and Mr. Client have been LOCKED!

Daniel Lee Mascarello as Kenneth Bayowitz

Kenneth Bayowitz, an assassin with almost no morals. He might look pretty normal, but underneath is something that our man Jack would say is just wrong.

Daniel Mascarello has been in both Ninjas vs. Vampires as the monstrous master killer Manson, and Ninjas vs. Zombies as the lazily yet heroic Fitz, both for Endlight Entertainment.  He has performed fight choreography and stunt work for both films, and is a highly trained martial artist. We are more than happy to have this strong presence, both emotionally and physically, on board with us in front of and behind the camera!

John C. Bailey as Mr. Client

Mr. Client is a man with money but doesn’t know the value of human life. The Client hired Jack through his handler to do some dirty work. When Jack refused, the Client not only hired someone else to finish the job, but also took this as a personal insult.

John C. Bailey has performed in various film, stage and television projects, including the upcoming Garden of Hedon and the terrifying Fear of Clowns 2, both for Kangas Kahn Films. He has also been in various episodes of America’s Most Wanted, and has portrayed Rush Limbaugh in a pilot called “Power”, created for Starz. His room-filling presence and years of experience and talent will be a great help to us both in front of and behind the camera, and we are incredibly proud to welcome him on board!

We find ourselves more than fortunate to be blessed with such excellent talent in our film!

And of course you’ve already met our JACK, played by Paul R. Sieber, You may remember Paul from such films as Ninjas vs. Vampires, Garden of Hedon, and Jebediah.

Be sure to read more about these guys on our Cast and Crew page. They’ll all be facing off against each other in BITE THE HAND– coming soon from STRIKE A POSE!!! Films.

We only have one more major role to fill, and that would be the character Red. The character description is still in our first post. Be sure to check it out!

I’d like to proudly announce that the next feature from Strike a Pose!!! Films short film will be BITE THE HAND, a gritty, dramatic hitman thriller, directed by Dylan Hintz, written by Tom Murphy, shot by Habib Awan, and starring Paul R. Sieber. Find us on Facebook HERE!

Here’s the official synopsis:

A job comes along that Jack doesn’t like- whacking the wife and kids of his “client.” When he refuses, Jack knows someone will be coming to retire him, courtesy of his boss, Mr. Callahan. What he doesn’t know is Red is a new recruit with nothing to lose- a hungry dog looking to eat. Jack decides to try and educate the young killer that some orders are best refused, and some lifestyles aren’t worth living.

This project has been in development for almost a year now, primarily going through draft after draft of an excellent original script written by Tom Murphy. The story, conceived by Murphy and myself, started as a humble “two guys in a room trying to shoot each other” hardboiled semi-action flick, and evolved into the dramatic tale it is today- a darkly humorous mediation on the themes of loyalty, betrayal, and killing to live.

Habib Awan, cinematographer on Jack’d Up and All in the Game, will be shooting the film.

Already locked is actor Paul Sieber as Jack– a recently retired hitman who quit his job and has decided the life no longer suits him. You may remember Paul from such films as Ninjas vs. Vampires, Garden of Hedon, and Jebediah.
